7.1 and 7.5 Weather and Climate Revision
For your end of unit test, you will need to revise:
Types of rainfall
Types of Cloud
Forecasting and recording the weather
Local Factors (7.5 you do not need to revise this)
Air Pressure
Here are some diagrams and information to help you:
Why is it warmer in the west than the east in summer?
Why is there more rain in the west?
The most common wind direction is from the south west bringing in warm air to the west of the country. This area also has the most mountainous and upland areas such as the Pennines therefore there is a lot of relief rainfall (see below).
Types of Rainfall
Use this to help you with your leaflet!
Types of Cloud
Look up the characteristics and types of weather associated with them
Forecasting and Recording the Weather
What each of these are measured in:
Temperature
Precipitation
Wind Speed
Cloud Cover
Wind direction
Air Pressure
What is air pressure?
What do low and high pressure mean and what sorts of weather do they bring?
Here is a link to help to explain air pressure:
The term for a low pressure system is called a depression.
The term for a high pressure system is an anticyclone.
Revise what sorts of weather each system brings.
Good Luck!
